Nine months out of the year freighters follow shipping channels up and down the Great Lakes. Moving thousands of tons worth of raw materials in a single voyage. These freighters carry everything from iron ore to grain. This freighter was upbound entering Lake Huron, and passing under the Blue Water Bridge in October.
We were lucky enough to catch a freighter coming through the shipping channel leading out of Lake Huron into the St. Clair River. Rarely do we see the deep blues created by dredged shipping channels from above. A beautiful tribute to the Great Lakes' perilous maritime history whose brilliant blues will surely pop when the sun hits it!
