Lahaina Banyan Tree

The Lahaina Banyan Tree is a staple of the community spanning over 1.9 acres in downtown Lahaina. The tree was gifted from the missionaries in India over 150 years ago. When the tree was planted in 1873 it was around 8 feet tall and has since grown to over 60 feet with 16 major trunks! This image was taken in December of 2021 from above showing the true scale of the tree with the beautiful Lahaina harbor in the background. From above it looks as if the tree is a small forest which show how incredible this tree truly is! While Lahaina is not the only historical town on the island of Maui it may be one of the coolest to see because of the extreme elevation difference ranging from a few feet above sea level to over 5000 feet. In addition to that, the word Lahaina means “Cruel Sun” in the Hawaiian language due to the town's year-round sunny and warm weather making it a great place to visit, or just welcome some of the Hawaiian spirits, sun and warmth into your home through this metal print.
